Daydreaming about that holiday again? We feel ya. Or maybe you’re just interested in what’s new in hotel development. Either way, you’re in the right window. Read on to check in on some amazing hotel developments from across the country.


Dream Hollywood

The newest edition of luxury hotel line Dream Hotels is going up along Hollywood’s Cahuenga Corridor. The property will feature sleek mid-century design and an 11,000 square foot rooftop lounge with splendid skyline views facilitate by a retractable roof. The building is adjacent to a landscaped public alley linking it to nightspots and eateries.


Hotel Indigo-Metropolis

To serve the growing demand for hotels near the Convention Center and the Staples Center, Indigo Hotels will be part of the $1 billion Metropolis development in downtown Los Angeles. In addition to the hotel, Metropolis will include three condominium towers with more than 1,800 units. Opening is expected at the end of 2016.


JW Marriott –LA Live

The existing hotel at L.A. Live will undergo a $500 million expansion, adding 755 guest rooms in a new 38-story tower and becoming the second-largest hotel in the state. The extension will break ground in early 2017, and the new tower will include over 17,000 square feet of retail space, a fitness center and rooftop pool.


Hotel at Navy Pier

Announced just last week, plans for a new hotel on Chicago’s iconic Navy Pier are still in flux, but construction is expected to begin in 2017. The as-yet unnamed hotel will be the first ever at Navy Pier, and will be be managed by Hilton under the Curio Collection of hotels.  The eight-story, 222-room property will be located near the eastern end of the pier.


Amanera – Dominican Republic

International luxury hoteliers at Aman are planning their Caribbean project on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, about 2 hours from the capital, Santo Domingo. The 2100-acre resort property will include a cliff top golf course and an unspoiled setting in at Playa Grande. Accommodations include casitas along the beach or set atop the cliff for sweeping views.  This is the 29th property developed by Singapore-based Aman.


Intercontinental London- the 02

Catering to visitors drawn to east London’s huge entertainment scene, this luxury hotel includes a spa, an indoor pool, two restaurants, and more, with panoramic views across the Thames to Canary Wharf and beyond. The property offers 453 guest rooms and suites as well as a conference center with 20 meeting rooms and a 3000 square foot ballroom. A walkway connects the hotel directly with the 02 venue.


Equinox Hotel

Upscale gym giant Equinox will open its first property in New York City as part of the massive Hudson Yards project being developed by its parent, Related Companies. The property will include a fitness club covering 60,000 square feet, with indoor and outdoor space and pools. In addition to the club, spa and hotel, the development will have 150,000 square feet for office space, and above the hotel will be luxury condos. Expected to open in 2018.


Moxy Hotel in Manhattan

A completion date in 2018 is also anticipated for a new hotel on On Fulton St. in Manhattan’s Financial District. This project will include retail space on the first 2 floors. The third floor will have additional lobby space, an exercise room, and a lounge.Hotel rooms will begin on the fifth floor with 10 rooms, followed by 11 rooms each on floors six through 24, and nine rooms on the 25th floor.


South Park “mega project”

Another new development for downtown L.A., this as-yet unnamed project will be located directly across from L.A. Live, and will comprise 3 high rise towers. One of these will be the hotel, which will be part of the first phase, breaking ground in 2017 and expected to be complete by early 2020.


Mixed-use in Uptown Cincinnati

This project, dubbed “Gateway to Uptown” will break ground by the end of 2016. It is part of a $75 million development project, which includes a 195-room extended stay hotel, apartments for seniors, and retail space. Its location near the city’s major medical district makes the development ideal for accommodating those interested in living or staying near those facilities.
