Calcium is located in Jefferson County, New York. Located in northern New York state near Lake Ontario and the Canadian border, Calcium is 70 miles north of Syracuse. It is a hamlet within the Town of Le Ray, located in Jefferson County. The current population of Le Ray is estimated at just over 20,000.

Calcium is just over an hour north of Syracuse; 3 hours from the state capital, Albany; and about 30 minutes south of the St. Lawrence River and the Canadian border, an area better known as the 1000 Islands.

Its mission includes command of active component units assigned to the installation, providing administrative and logistical support to tenant units, support to active and reserve units from all services in training at Fort Drum, and planning and support for the mobilization and training of almost 80,000 troops annually.
