Description

Hacienda La Pacifica was owned at the end of the eighteenth century by Costa Rica's former president Bernardo Soto and was a favorite place for his wife, whose name we proudly bear: Pacifica Fernandez de Soto. Dating back to the 1800's, the original colonial home known as La Casona, still, sits along the banks of the Rio Corobici.

The Hacienda was a pioneered in cattle breeding by mixing European and Zebu breeds, improving fertility and yield. Bulls coming from Hacienda La Pacifica were sold and spread throughout Guanacaste and the rest of the country's cattle breeding regions.

The enormous water supply due to three rivers and the irrigation canals within the property allow the production of a large number of crops, forages and reforestation including: industrial tomato, soybean, gandul, kenaf, onion, paprika, castor, palmettos, stud, leucaena, grain sorghum, king grass, trasvala, german flooded grass, brachirias, Tanzania, NiMH, teak, pochote, sugar cane, rice, and aquaculture, among others.

Today, HLP has commercial production of certified organic sustainable rice for Costa Rica, the United States, and Europe. Also produced for domestic and export use are tilapia, grass-fed beef and forestry products.

The iconic boutique hotel Hacienda La Pacifica has the reputation as a go-to eco-lodging experience for both locals and international travelers spanning over 4 decades.
