Estimated population is about 100 - 120.Living in Tenakee Springs is a choice people make for the laid back lifestyle and incredible sense of community. Tenakee Springs is accessed by boat, or seaplane. It's about 50 miles from Sitka or Juneau. There is a small clinic and library, community greenhouse, and a natural hot springs in the middle of town. Note: No property tax in this area!

Tenakee Springs has become a remote worker paradise, as the internet options have expanded over the last few years. The arts community is vey strong here. About 35% of the population are retired, and several people are only in town seasonally. At this time, children are home-schooled as there are not enough children to open the school building, but the Tenakee Spring Independent Learning Center is open and available for anyone in the community to use.
