Description

McGills Restaurant Building is quintessential Crested Butte located in the center of Town on Elk Avenue. Built around 1893, it served as the Town's grocery store run by Tony and Elanor Stephanic until 1988. In 2005 the building's new owner undertook a major renovation including foundational repairs, all new electrical, heating, plumbing, and drywall. The original floors were removed, refinished and laid back down. At that time a new roof was installed and again redone in 2016. Since the remodel, the first floor has been occupied and has operated as McGills Restaurant, a successfull breakfast and lunch restaurant. The second floor apartment consists of a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with loft apartment and is currently rented month to month. 228 Elk, only 50 feet from the center of town at 3rd and Elk, commands the most central, high traffic spot amonst the Town's historic district. In addition to restaurant use, general retail business opportunities are permitted.
