Description

Extraordinary mansion, built in the 19th century by the Marquis of Saldanha for his mother, designed by an Italian architect of great prestige who gave life to a fantastic project of a semicircular building, having employed Italian workers and artists to paint the fabulous frescoes. For this reason the house was called 'Casa Italiana'.
Only a few years later the estate was sold. At that time it was inhabited by several distinguished personalities such as the Duke of Wellington, the Manperrin family and the great Portuguese industrialist Alfredo da Silva, having only returned to the family in the early 20th century, when the highest part of the farm was donated to the Patriarchate of Lisbon, and the Italian House is sold to an English family, which inhabits it until the end of 1987. Than, the current owner buys th property and starts the restoration works that took two years.
Besides all the work of reinforcement and improvement of the structure, there was given care in modernizing and giving comfort to the house without destroying or distorting the original design. All frescoes have been restored by an internationally renowned artist, the gardens also have been restored and show now the beauty and originality of the former ages.
Located in a prestigious area where the view and surroundings are characteristic for the romantic era that still dominates our 'Serra de Sintra', very close to the historical centre, it has the perfect location for a property of this nature.
Lisbon is only 30 min. Away, as well as Cascais, within a few minutes we reach the beaches of the area which are another place of extreme international recognition.
