Battle Creek is located in northwest Calhoun County, Michigan at the confluence of the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek rivers. It is the principal city of the Battle Creek, Michigan Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which encompasses all of Calhoun County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 52,347, while the MSA's population was 136,146. Battle Creek is 30 miles east of Kalamazoo, 50 miles southwest of the state capital of Lansing, and 80 miles west of Ann Arbor. There are numerous roadways in the region warranting effortless interstate travel such as I-194, I-94, I-69, and Michigan Highway 66. Both the W.G. Kellogg Airport
and the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport accommodate worldwide air travel to and from the Battle Creek area. The 26 principal neighborhoods of this vibrant municipality provide over 7,000 acres of parks and woodlands for the enjoyment of its residents.
