The city is home to the Southfield Town Center complex, which includes five interconnected skyscrapers forming a contemporary 2,200,000-square-foot office complex. It includes the Westin Southfield Detroit Hotel, restaurants, a fitness center, and a major conference center for up to 1,000 attendees. This office-hotel complex is situated along Town Center Drive off M-10 (Lodge Freeway), across from Lawrence Technological University in Metro Detroit. The tallest of these, 3000 Town Center, is 402 feet tall; it is the state's second-tallest building outside Detroit and the state's 16th-tallest building overall. An enclosed two-story garden atrium connects the hotel with the towers of the Southfield Town Center. The atrium area also contains 94,000 square feet of retail space.

Lawrence Technological University (Lawrence Tech) is a private university in Southfield, Michigan. It was founded in 1932 in Highland Park, and moved to Southfield in 1955 and has since expanded to 107 acres. The campus also includes the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Affleck House in Bloomfield Hills and the Detroit Center for Design + Technology in Midtown Detroit. The university offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs in science, technology, engineering, architecture and design, and mathematics fields through its four colleges: Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Business and Information Technology, and Engineering.
