The City of Southfield is not only Michigan's premier business address, but also one of the metro area's most desirable residential communities as well. Southfield offers a complete living community, featuring a nationally recognized public school system, 10 colleges and universities, and more than 800 acres of park land. Located in Oakland County, with easy access to most metro area expressways, Southfield offers both a cosmopolitan, culturally-diverse residential population of more than 76,000 residents and a thriving international business community. Southfield is located just 15 minutes north of Detroit’s city center where there has been a renaissance of new restaurants, bars, and new businesses opening in the last few years. Southfield is a business and economic powerhouse of Southeast Michigan, with a metro area population of over 4 million residents. Southfield and the surrounding areas also have a strong residential presence.

With a daytime population nearing 175,000, and over 27 million square feet of office space, Southfield is truly Michigan’s undisputed business center. Residents and businesses alike come to Southfield for its central location, excellent city services and easy access to all of southeastern Michigan. Several internationally recognized corporations have major offices and headquarters in Southfield, including Veoneer, Huf Hülsbeck and Fürst, Denso, Peterson Spring, Federal-Mogul, Lear, R.L. Polk & Co., International Automotive Components, Stefanini, Inc. and Guardian Alarm. Known as a corporate mecca, it is home to 100 Fortune 500 companies and 10,000 businesses. The city’s extensive infrastructure, access to high-speed fiber optics, and central location make it appealing for businesses, family offices, churches, banquet centers, retail, corporate secondary offices, or an executive headquarters.

The city is home to the Southfield Town Center complex, which includes five interconnected skyscrapers forming a contemporary 2,200,000-square-foot office complex. It includes the Westin Southfield Detroit Hotel, restaurants, a fitness center, and a major conference center for up to 1,000 attendees. This office-hotel complex is situated along Town Center Drive off M-10 (Lodge Freeway), across from Lawrence Technological University in Metro Detroit. The tallest of these, 3000 Town Center, is 402 feet tall; it is the state's second-tallest building outside Detroit and the state's 16th-tallest building overall. An enclosed two-story garden atrium connects the hotel with the towers of the Southfield Town Center. The atrium area also contains 94,000 square feet of retail space.

Lawrence Technological University (Lawrence Tech) is a private university in Southfield, Michigan. It was founded in 1932 in Highland Park, and moved to Southfield in 1955 and has since expanded to 107 acres. The campus also includes the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Affleck House in Bloomfield Hills and the Detroit Center for Design + Technology in Midtown Detroit.
